Hi, I’m Joe.

I’ve spent my life moving between the worlds of theatre and nonprofit leadership, with a few unexpected detours along the way, including commercial construction and a long run in information technology. Most of my professional life was spent helping organizations solve problems, navigate change, and meet the kind of deadlines that don’t move just because things get complicated.

I began my theatre career backstage as a technical director and production manager, learning firsthand that successful organizations are built by people who show up, work together, and find practical solutions when the clock is ticking. Over the years, my work expanded from production into operations, finance, and executive leadership, giving me the opportunity to help restore historic theatres, strengthen nonprofit organizations, and guide teams through periods of growth and transition.

Those chapters are now complete.

Today, I’m happily retired and intend to stay that way.

My time is spent traveling, hiking, volunteering, reading, tackling projects around the house, and enjoying the freedom that comes from not having a calendar full of meetings. After several attempts at retirement, I’ve finally decided to commit to it.

That doesn’t mean I’ve stopped caring about the arts, nonprofits, leadership, or problem solving. If anything, retirement has given me more time to share what I’ve learned. I’m always glad to answer questions, make introductions, offer advice, or serve as a sounding board for people and organizations facing challenges. What I no longer do is seek employment, consulting engagements, or paid assignments.

Experience is most valuable when it is shared.

For now, you’ll most often find me on a hiking trail, planning the next trip, volunteering for causes I care about, or enjoying the luxury of having nowhere in particular that I need to be.
